Meadowhall Centre is one of the largest retail establishments in the UK, providing jobs and development opportunities for the local community.  Meadowhall is committed to the development of staff and to improving its environmental performance.

Environmental Monitoring Solutions Ltd, a Dronfield based Environmental Consultancy & Training Centre, approached Meadowhall in 2006 and offered to provide access to 100% funded level 2 National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in Environmental Conservation (Community Recycling) and Environmental Conservation.

Environmental Legislation Compliance with EMS Ltd

Tann UK Ltd, a gravure printing operation based in Glossop, Derbyshire, appointed Environmental Monitoring Solutions Ltd to conduct an Environmental Legislation Compliance Audit of their site and operational activities in line with UK legal requirements and the internationally recognised environmental management system standard ISO14001.

Environmental Monitoring Solutions Ltd are an environmental consultancy based in Dronfield, Derbyshire, with over 25 years experience delivering expert monitoring, consultancy and training services to a wide range of clients.

The purpose of the environmental legislation compliance audit was to identify all applicable environmental legislation relevant to Tann UK and highlight any actual and potential breaches of environmental legislation occurring on site. Suggestions were then made for ways to rectify these issues and maintain conformity with all applicable legislation.

Commenting on the level of service received from EMS Ltd Mr Paul Jenner, Quality & Environmental Manager at Tann UK Ltd, stated:

Environmental Reviews & ISO14001 Gap Analysis with EMS Ltd

DHL Aviation (UK) Ltd and DHL Air Ltd, the parcel processing and airline fleet divisions of DHL, a multinational delivery company, contracted Environmental Monitoring Solutions Ltd to conduct an Environmental Review and ISO14001 Gap Analysis of the DHL facility at East Midlands Airport, UK.

The purpose of the review was to identify potential non-conformity with environmental legislation and suggest ways of maintaining conformity with said legislation. The gap analysis was used to identify areas of the site environmental management system that did not meet the requirements of the international guidance standard ISO14001 and suggest ways of ensuring compliance with said standard pending a site audit.

Environmental Monitoring Solutions Ltd, a Dronfield based Environmental Consultancy & Training Centre, conducted a full site inspection of the DHL facility and critical review of the site environmental management systems in order to identify areas of non-compliance with applicable legal requirements and failings of the site environmental management system to meet the requirements of the ISO14001 quality standard.

The review and gap analysis results were used to identify positive and negative aspects of site environmental management and to suggest areas for improvement by recommending measures to counter the negative aspects identified on site and build on the positives.

Mr Geoff Parnell, Quality Manager at DHL Aviation (UK) Ltd, stated:

Akzo Nobel Ltd, an ISO14001 accredited multinational Coatings, Chemical and Pharmaceutical company, contracted Environmental Monitoring Solutions Ltd to conduct a Chemical Spillage Audit at the Akzo Nobel, Hull site.
