The NEBOSH Award in Environmental Awareness at Work is the newest addition to the family of NEBOSH environmental courses. The qualification is designed to offer delegates an introductory overview of environmental impact management and awareness. It is also designed as a stepping stone to support with their involvement in environmental management systems such as ISO 14001.
Food Ingredients manufacturer, ADM Cocoa UK is one of the first companies to try out the new qualification. At the ADM Cocoa factory in Liverpool, 9 employees from the production facility and food hygiene department were enrolled on the course including Food Safety Manager Anna Ollier.
All 9 employees successfully completed the course and were awarded the qualification after passing the multiple choice test.
"It's an ideal first step. I think it's given everyone a good understanding of how everything fits together and you can easily relate it to your role. It certainly improves general awareness and can be taken by employees at all levels." Anna Ollier, Food Safety Manager.
"NEBOSH sits right at the top of the pile for qualifications. They are really good quality. The idea behind the NEBOSH Environmental Awareness at Work qualification was to get people to understand their impacts, particularly with energy usage, our packaging materials, waste and so on. We've immediately seen that our employees are being more proactive. They're also coming forward with ideas of their own. Altogether, it's proving very positive and given everyone a more structured approach.” Greg McCannon, HS&E Coordinator.
After the success of the Awareness at Work Qualification, ADM Cocoa decided to offer 8 members of staff the opportunity to study for the 5 day NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management.
