The Water Industry Awards ceremony is set to take place on the 21st of May at the Vox in Birmingham. There will be 14 different categories awarded throughout the evening. The ceremony celebrates outstanding achievement and innovation within the UK water industry and it is a real accolade for the CENTAUR™ project to be recognised.
The CENTAUR™ project is a European Union Horizon 2020 Innovation Action. The aim of the project is to provide an innovative, cost effective, local autonomous sewer flow control system to mitigate urban flood risk.
One of the most widespread impacts of climate change, with the potential to impact thousands of EU citizens, will be increased frequency and severity of urban flooding. CENTAUR™ uses a data driven approach to develop real-time control strategies which work within existing sewer storage to help alleviate this risk. For more information on CENTAUR™ please click here.
CENTAUR™ has been developed by a consortium of universities, water companies and SMEs. It is through the combination of this breadth of expertise and large, world leading research facilities that the idea for the project has been realised. The other partners who are working on the CENTAUR™ project are The University of Sheffield, Veolia Eau, Universidade de Coimbra, Aguas de Coimbra, Eawag and Steinhardt.
