Location: Sheffield-based. Remote working across the UK with occasional overnight stays Salary: £26,500 – £28,000 DOE + benefits

Cura Terrae Water Limited is looking for a skilled and motivated Instrumentation Engineer to join our growing team. 

This is a hands-on, field-based role where you’ll play a vital part in ensuring the performance and reliability of cutting-edge water and environmental monitoring systems across the UK. Your Role 

As an Instrumentation Engineer, you will be responsible for commissioning, maintaining, calibrating, and fault-finding instrumentation across a wide range of monitoring systems. 

Working across diverse environments—from industrial sites to remote locations—you will ensure our equipment delivers accurate, reliable data that supports critical environmental and regulatory decisions. You will also collaborate closely with engineering, technical, and delivery teams while representing the business on client sites. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Commission, configure, and calibrate instrumentation in line with project requirements  
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimise downtime and ensure system reliability  
  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance across Cura Terrae monitoring systems and equipment  
  • Support the installation and setup of instrumentation and monitoring solutions  
  • Conduct site surveys to assess requirements, risks, and constraints  
  • Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system specifications  
  • Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations, RAMS, and quality standards  
  • Maintain accurate service records, calibration data, and technical documentation  
  • Liaise effectively with internal teams and communicate professionally with clients on-site  
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and promote sustainable practices  

About You 

  • A practical, hands-on engineer with strong technical and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail, particularly around calibration and data accuracy  
  • Confident working independently on-site and collaboratively within a team, with strong communication skills  
  • Full UK driving licence  
  • Good understanding of health & safety requirements, including RAMS and risk assessments  
  • Experience using hand and power tools, with a solid understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems  
  • Proven fault-finding and diagnostic experience  
  • Adaptable and resilient, comfortable working in outdoor, industrial, and remote environments
