EMS’s MD, Prof Pete Skipworth, has joined the Board of Trustees at Sheffield Charity SCCCC

SCCCC provides older people with a helping hand when they need it most. The organisation maintains strong links with the community and enjoys a unique position in the city, working in partnership with the local authority and NHS. The charity operates with a small staff team and through a network of nearly 100 volunteers, providing regular and occasional social visits, help to carers, help with resettling older people after hospital visits, and loaning of essential equipment.

Over 5,000 hours were delivered by SCCCC volunteers last year, who work hard to help prevent loneliness and isolation amongst older people in their own time. The charity also undertook over 3,000 referrals for one off jobs, ranging from emergency shopping to moving furniture to allow for the delivery of a hospital bed into someone’s home.

The Board of Trustees ensure good governance and sets the strategic direction of the charity. It is made up of a cross-section of individuals from different professional backgrounds who can give the input for the charity and its beneficiaries to thrive.

Pete commented on the appointment, “I am looking forward to contributing via the Board of Trustees of SCCCC. The work that SCCCC does is tremendous and makes life easier and improves the quality of life for the increasing number of elderly in the Sheffield community. It is one of the most under-represented sectors in the charity landscape that needs more promotion and support.”

Mark Storey, CEO of SCCCC, commented that “We are delighted to have Pete on board. He brings a valuable perspective from the world of business which melded with the views from our current Trustees, will help our cause.”
